Premier League side Liverpool are set to chase the signature of England international James Ward-Prowse this summer after losing

Georginio Wijnaldum to Paris Saint-Germain.

Wijnaldum decided not to renew his contract with Liverpool as he moved to Paris Saint-Germain despite being linked to Barcelona.

The Holland international has now left an ample space at Liverpool, and the reds are eager to fill that space.

James Ward-Prowse is now the latest player that will be linked with the reds despite missing out on the England squad for the European Championships.

Despite this setback, Noel Whelan has urged Liverpool to make a move for the Southampton midfielder.

Speaking to Football Insider, Noel Whelan, who played as a forward during his playing days, suggested that Liverpool should rival Aston Villa to try and sign him up in the current transfer window.

He stated that Liverpool should fancy Ward-Prowse as he’s that kind of midfield player they will want, especially when it comes to set-pieces.

Noel Whelan added that Ward-Prowse is tenacious in midfield, and he’s got that energy about him and is a player that would probably suit Liverpool.
