Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed why Kevin De Bryune was unable to fulfil his potential at Stamford Bridge.

De Bruyne made a move to Chelsea in 2012 from Belgian side Genk as a youngster who has the potential to perform on the big stage.

However, he struggled for game time under Mourinho, making nine appearances in all competitions.

The Belgium international eventually went out on loan to Wolfsburg before the move was made permanent.

However, his excellent form with Wolfsburg saw him move to Manchester City, where he has become one of the most feared midfielders in the world.

Mourinho, while speaking with talkSPORT, had now revealed that he did not want Kevin de Bruyne to leave when he was at Chelsea.

The Portuguese stated that his story with De Bryune was fun as it worked well in the end for him.

Kevin was supposed to come with the team in another group of players who would leave on loan after Asia.

Mourinho revealed that De Bryune impressed him so much and decided that he won’t be going out on loan.

However, things took a dramatic twist when De Bryune met him and asked to be sent to Germany on loan to get more playing time which eventually helped him.
