Chelsea top target reportedly prefers move to European rival

Chelsea have been dealt a significant transfer blow in their pursuit for Inter Milan defender Achraf Hakimi who prefers a summer switch to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain PSG.

Hakimi’s performance for Inter Milan last season has drawn many interests from top teams in Europe.

Inter Milan have made their intentions of selling some top players as they are currently in a financial crisis due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Though Hakimi joined Inter Milan in a €40m deal from Real Madrid last year, the Seria A Champion are eager to profit off his sale this summer.

Hakimi’s agent has also confirmed that the defender will be leaving this summer, but Chelsea and PSG had their initial offer of  €60m rejected by Inter Milan.

PSG are now said to be ahead of Chelsea as they are willing to offer a €70m deal, that includes bonuses, to convince Inter Milan.

This now looks like a deal that might be worked out as RMC Sport (h/t Metro) reports that Hakimi prefers a move to PSG rather than Chelsea.

We will have to wait for a couple of days to see how this will finally end.
