Real Madrid purportedly consented to sign Bayern Munich’s David Alaba during the second week of January.

The Austria international’s contract at Bayern is expected to lapse toward the end of June, and he will leave the German champions this summer looking for pastures new.

Madrid have been emphatically connected with the 28-year-old, however a move to the Bernabeu has not yet been announced, and various clubs continue to be connected with his services.

As indicated by Marca, the talented defender will join Zinedine Zidane’s side later this year, however there won’t be an official announcement from either club until the end of the 2020-21 season.

The report asserts that a move for Alaba has been in place since the early stages of 2021, with Madrid holding off competitions from Barcelona and various English clubs to get his signature.

The Austrian has again been a central player for Bayern during the 2020-21 season, scoring twice and making four assists in 39 appearances in all competitions.

However, Real Madrid skipper Sergio Ramos will leave on a free transfer toward the end of June, while another centre back Raphael Varane continue to be connected with a move away from the club.
