Chelsea loan star eager to ‘surpass’ legendary Didier Drogba at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea youngster Armando Broja, who is currently showing his class on loan at Vitesse, has given himself a hill to climb as he attempts to ‘surpass’ club legend Didier Drogba at Stamford Bridge.
The blues have been blessed with a good youth set-up and it’s not always surprised when they loan out youngsters to gain more experience.
Armando Broja joined the blues loan army when he was shipped out to Vitesse for the 2020/21 campaign just months after he made his first and only senior appearance after coming on for Olivier Giroud in a victory over Everton in March of last season.
Broja has impressed at the Eredivisie club with nine goals and two assists in 20 league games and he has set his sight on the future.
Speaking with Goal, the young Albania international striker stated that during his time at the Chelsea youth he use to be like Wow! That’s Frank Lampard, [Didier] Drogba or John Terry right in front of him when he would see them around.
Broja noted that he loved to take pictures with them because I wanted to be them as he wanted to be in their shoes at the top level.
The youngster added that as he’s now approaching the age they were when they were playing, he wants to try and surpass Drogba, though, it might not be easy, but that’s his mentality and how he’s feeling.
Drogba scored 164 goals for the Blues and it’s left to see if Broja will be able to surpass the former Ivory Coast international.
