Chelsea star admits guilt over Frank Lampard sacking after slow start at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea forward Timo Werner has admit how his slow start at Stamford Bridge played a role in the sacking of Frank Lampard as manager of the club.

Frank Lampard brought in Timo Werner to solve his side goal scoring problem but the Germany international failed to hit the ground running.

Timo Werner went 12 games without finding the net as his only goal at that time came against Morecambe in the FA Cup and this led to the team struggling to win games.

Frank Lampard was sacked some weeks ago and Werner believes he played a role in the sacking.

Speaking with Sky Sports, Werner stated that
when you come to Chelsea to play as a striker and be the man to score the goals, of course he felt a little bit guilty that he missed so many chances.

He noted that for the club, for the old manager but also for him because he want to score all the time and as much as he possibly can.

Werner added that if he had scored four or five more goals maybe the old manager would still be here because the team maybe have won two or three games more but you can’t look too much into the past because there are too many games ahead of the team.
