Former Manchester United forward Micheal Owen has shared his thoughts on the sacking of Frank Lampard at Chelsea.

Frank Lampard some hours ago joined the list of managers to be shown the exit door at Chelsea under the era of Roman Abrahimovic after he failed to convince the Russian billionaire.

Michael Owen who has never been shy in sharing his opinion on Frank Lampard ever since he moved to the Bridge has now stated that his achievements last season should have bought his former England team-mate more time at the club.

Frank Lampard took the job last season after Mauriczio Sarri left for Juventus and the club were banned from spending in the transfer window.

However, Lampard promoted some youth players like Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham who played a huge role in ensuring that Chelsea made the top four.

Lampard also led Chelsea to the FA Cup final where they lost to Arsenal who are currently headed by a club legend in Mikel Arteta.

Owen via a tweet on his official Twitter account believes this should have helped him in retaining his position at Chelsea rather than sacking him.

Lampard was backed during the transfer window as he was the highest spender, bringing in Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Eduardo Mendy, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva.
