Premier League club Arsenal have been handed a major transfer boost this January transfer window in their bid to sign Martin Zubimendi.

Recent reports revealed Zubimendi is set to sign for the Gunners at the end of the season.

Zubimendi gained interest from top clubs including Arsenal following his performances for Real Sociedad in Spain’s La Liga.

Before Arsenal showed interest in the player, Liverpool were close to signing him last summer.

A report via the Daily Mail revealed the midfielder is on the verge of signing a deal to join Arsenal, who will formally trigger his £51 million release clause.

He has been on Arsenal’s radar for over 12 months and talks over a summer move are now at an ‘advanced stage’.

While the North London club would prefer he joins them immediately, however, Real Sociedad have insisted he stays until the end of the season.
