Former Chelsea striker could miss Champions League reunion against the Blues
Diego Costa’s chances of playing against Chelsea in the Champions League round of 16 looks like a dream that might not come true as the star striker has been linked with a move away from Atletico Madrid.
The Spanish striker has struggled for minutes ever since Luis Suarez arrived from Barcelona in the summer transfer window and his injury problems have also not been helping him hit the form he is known for.
The 32-year-old has made just seven appearances this season and with the good form of Suarez and Joao Felix, it does not look like he will be getting back in the team anytime soon.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Costa who has now entered his final year of his deal will not be offered a new deal by the Spanish side.
Atletico Madrid are also willing to sell him in the January transfer window if the right offer comes in and if this happens, he will not be available for their Uefa Champions League clash against Chelsea.
Costa was a fan favourite during his three years stint at Chelsea and has spent seven seasons in Madrid over the last decade raking 215 appearances and scoring 83 goals.
We will have to wait till January to see what would happen.
