The winter transfer window will start in less than 5 weeks from today and football clubs are already showing interest in new players.

While COVID-19 affected the summer transfer market as some clubs could not sign players as they wish, well, the January transfer market is a time to correct that.

A new report has disclosed that Manchester City have shown interest in Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria and are ready to challenge EPL sides Man Utd and Chelsea to sign him.

The reputation and value of the Switzerland international further improved this season after he helped his club compete with top clubs like Real Madrid and Inter Milan in their Champions League group.

Borussia Monchengladbach are currently at the top of their group in the UCL.

Manchester United and Chelsea who were previously been linked with the 24-year-old will have to be worried with the new interest from Man City.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano’s Here We Go podcast, City will prioritise a bid for the player during the summer transfer window.

Speaking on the podcast, Romano said: “Manchester City are focusing on Zakaria. He is so appreciated by the board, they are following him, they are in contact with his agent. So he’s for sure on the list of Manchester City.”

Zakaria has just 19 months remaining on his contract with Monchengladbach but he is expected to move to a bigger club in the future.
