Why Cavani is at a level many strikers can’t reach

Following Edison Cavani’s brace against Southampton on Sunday in the EPL, Man Utd captain, Harry Maguire claims he is at a level that “not many strikers can reach.”

Maguire claims may be coming as a result of working with the 33-year-old in some weeks now.

To some extent Maguire may be right owing to the fact that Cavani has been without a club since leaving French side Paris Saint Germain PSG for some weeks before he finally got a contract with Man Utd.

There were also questions surrounding his age and the ability to perform, with many seeing it as a bad transfer decision taken by Ole Solksjaer.

However, Edinson Cavani proved to be a match-winner for the Red Devils during their latest outing as he came in the second half to bag a brace in a 3-2 victory over Southampton.

This has made Maguire come to the conclusion that the South American is an example for other strikers.

He told MUTV: “His movement when the ball is wide is to a level that not many strikers can reach. He is always on the move, always getting across people and that’s why he has always scored goals.

“So if there are any strikers out here wanting to learn and watch, I am sure they are studying his movement and what he has done in his career.

“He is great for our strikers to learn from him in training, because he is a nightmare to mark in training as well. Every day he is making those runs across you and we have seen today his movement is very, very good.”

While Cavani was the man of the match for the Red Devils on the pitch last night, he is however in trouble with the FA following a racially insensitive remark he made on social media.
