Deal AGREED: Premier league giants accepted deal for Barcelona winger before deadline

Manchester United had apparently accepted a deal to sign Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele before this present summer’s transfer deadline, just for the player to backtrack on a move at the eleventh hour.

The Premier league giants were vigorously connected with a deadline day move for the France international, having missed the chance to sign Jadon Sancho.

France Football guarantees that the Red Devils had agreed terms with Barcelona over a switch and sent the relevant documents to the players by 6pm on October 5.

The arrangement would have permitted a domino effect of different transfer to occur, with Barcelona set to replace Ousmane Dembele with Memphis Depay and Lyon to replace Memphis Depay with Leicester City’s Islam Slimani.

The entirety of the paper work for those arrangements was also supposedly set up by 6pm, however they collapsed because of Ousmane Dembele’s refusal to leave Barcelona.

The France international told Barcelona that he had no expectation of leaving at 8pm on October 5, only three hours before the deadline.

Manchester United had a busy deadline day even without Ousmane Dembele’s arrival, with Alex Telles, Edinson Cavani and Facundo Pellistri joining.
