Transfer Report: Arsenal had maximum price tag they would not break for Lyon midfielder

Arsenal’s summer quest for Houssem Aouar supposedly fell after Lyon requested more than the Gunners’ maximum cost for the midfielder.

Houssem Aouar was Mikel Arteta’s top target for a great part of the ongoing window and the Spaniard stays intrigued by him as he hopes to add another inventive midfielder to his positions.

In any case, no move appeared and Arsenal rather reinforced their midfield alternatives with the £45m deadline day procurement of Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid.

There are reports currently that Arsenal didn’t sign Houssem Aouar on the grounds that they wouldn’t move on the top-end value that they had set on the young midfielder.

Arsenal are perceived to have seen a £35m bid immediately dismissed by Lyon, whose asking price was higher than the Gunners were happy to pay.

The Premier league outfits are purportedly prepared to restore their enthusiasm for January, albeit Italian champions Juventus are presently thought to be leading the race to sign Houssem Aouar.
