Arsenal are closing in on a deal for Chelsea winger

The Gunners are apparently ready to seal the free transfer of Chelsea winger Willian.

The 31-year-old’s contract lapses toward the end of this season and this has prompted a lot of theory over his future recently.

Arsenal are presently leading the race to sign Willian ahead of Tottenham, and are currently edging nearer to bringing him to the Emirates Stadium.

The 31-year-old has demonstrated he can be a star performer at Premier League level for a long time presently, having won two Premier League titles and other significant honours during his time at Stamford Bridge.

The Gunners could profit by an additional choice in attack, with Willian prone to be an upgrade on Mesut Ozil and others, while also squeezing Nicolas Pepe to perform after a marginally disappointing debut season in England.

Tottenham Hotspur could also want to improve their attack this summer, and Willian has recently shone under ex-Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

The Spurs manager trained Willian at Chelsea and the pair appeared to be close to one another, however it appears it’s Arsenal in pole position to sign the winger.
