Chelsea ready to sign Atletico Madrid star for world-record fee

The Blues are apparently ready to sign Atletico Madrid shot stopper Jan Oblak this summer for a world-record fee.

The Slovenia goalkeeper has built up a notoriety for being one of the world’s best shot stoppers during his time in the Spanish capital, and Jan Oblak has kept 16 clean sheets from 36 La Liga outing this campaign.

Chelsea effectively own the world’s most expensive goalkeeper as Kepa Arrizabalaga, but Frank Lampard is as far as anyone knows looking for replacement for the Spaniard after a disappointing effort at Stamford Bridge.

As indicated by report, the Blues would offer a fee of £90.7m so as to lure Jan Oblak away from Atletico during the current summer’s transfer window.

The talented goalkeeper would turn into the world’s most costly shot-stopper should that deal happen as expected, but the report asserts that Diego Simeone’s side are resolved to keep hold of the 27-year-old and are not likely to authorize a deal.

Jan Oblak signed another deal with Atletico a year ago, and his present contract at the Wanda Metropolitano is set to run until the end of the 2022-23 campaign.
