Arsenal are reportedly preparing a move for highly-rated Mexican teenager Gilberto Mora after the 17-year-old impressed on the biggest stage during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The attacking midfielder enhanced his growing reputation throughout Mexico’s campaign, earning three starts for the tournament co-hosts and showcasing the maturity and technical quality that have made him one of the country’s brightest young prospects. Although Mexico’s journey ended with a 3-2 defeat to England in the last 16, Mora’s performances did little to diminish the excitement surrounding his future.

Reports in Mexico suggest Club Tijuana are increasingly aware that keeping hold of their academy graduate will be a difficult task as interest from Europe continues to intensify. The Liga MX side are believed to have included an £18.4 million release clause in his contract, anticipating strong interest from some of the continent’s biggest clubs.

Arsenal are said to be among the leading contenders for Mora’s signature, with Liverpool also monitoring the situation closely. Both Premier League clubs are reportedly considering triggering the release clause as they look to secure one of the most exciting young attacking talents in world football.

Mora has been widely praised for his creativity, intelligence in possession and confidence despite his age, qualities that have caught the attention of top scouts during the tournament. Arsenal’s long-term recruitment strategy has focused heavily on acquiring elite young talent, and the teenager appears to fit that profile perfectly as the Gunners continue planning for both immediate success and the future.
