Man Utd step up interest in Chelsea midfielder after fresh transfer talks
Manchester United have reportedly intensified their pursuit of Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos as the club continues its search for reinforcements in the middle of the park this summer.
Strengthening midfield remains one of United’s top priorities following Casemiro’s expected departure and Manuel Ugarte’s inconsistent form and injury setbacks last season. The club is already close to completing a deal for Atalanta midfielder Ederson, although the move has yet to be officially confirmed as the Brazilian remains on international duty at the 2026 World Cup.
According to reports, Chelsea’s Andrey Santos has now emerged as another leading target. The 22-year-old is valued by the Blues at around £50 million and is believed to be open to a move in pursuit of more regular first-team football.
Santos faces fierce competition at Stamford Bridge, with Moisés Caicedo firmly established as Chelsea’s first-choice defensive midfielder after recently committing his future to the club.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed Manchester United’s interest, revealing that the club has made an initial enquiry and held early discussions with the player’s representatives. However, no formal offer has been submitted at this stage.
Despite their willingness to listen to offers, Chelsea are not actively pushing Santos towards the exit and would only consider a sale if their valuation is met.
United are expected to continue monitoring the situation while weighing up their midfield options before making a final decision. If negotiations progress, Santos could become the latest addition to Ruben Amorim’s squad as Manchester United look to rebuild and challenge for major honours during the new season.
