Chelsea Defender Faces Stamford Bridge Exit as Blues Plot £50m Defensive Upgrade

Chelsea are reportedly prepared to let Trevoh Chalobah leave Stamford Bridge this summer, with Serie A clubs stepping up their interest as the Blues identify a high-profile replacement valued at around £50 million.

Chalobah enjoyed a strong campaign last season, making 31 Premier League starts and playing an important role in Chelsea’s defence. His consistent performances also earned him a late call-up to the England squad after Tino Livramento was ruled out through injury.

Despite earlier reports suggesting Chelsea intended to reject approaches for the academy graduate, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano now claims the club are open to his departure. Italian side Como have already submitted an opening bid, while Inter Milan are also monitoring the 26-year-old as they search for defensive reinforcements.

According to Romano, Chalobah is attracting significant interest from clubs competing in the UEFA Champions League, although the defender remains focused on securing his place in England’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Should Chalobah leave, Chelsea are expected to accelerate their pursuit of a French World Cup-winning centre-back, with the club reportedly preparing an offer worth £50 million. The move would continue the Blues’ defensive rebuild as they look to strengthen the squad ahead of the new season.

A transfer would also end Chalobah’s hopes of working under Chelsea’s new manager, a prospect he recently admitted he was looking forward to. While no agreement has yet been reached, the defender appears increasingly likely to seek a new challenge if the right offer arrives during the summer transfer window.
