Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has finally shared why Gabriel Jesus was left out of the Gunners UEFA Champions League squad.

The Gunners had submitted a list of 25 players submitted to UEFA excluding the Brazilian.

Arsenal’s squad for the Champions League this season includes just three forwards: Viktor Gyokeres, Bukayo Saka, and Gabriel Martinelli.

Addressing the press in a pre-match conference on Friday, Arteta stated that the Brazilian striker was still recovering from a major surgery.

In his words: “He had a major surgery and it was going to take him many, many months.”

The Gunners manager revealed that the decision was reached after discussing with the medical staff and understanding the schedule that the club had and when they thought that Jesus could be available.

He revealed that Jesus will not be available between December and January.
