Another Chelsea player in person of Lesley Ugochukwu has departed the club this summer transfer window, signing a new deal with Burnley.

According to the reports, Burnley completed the signing of French midfielder from Chelsea for a fee of more than £20m close to the same amount the Blues paid Rennes to sign him in 2023

Ugochukwu penned a five-year contravt at Turf Moor after leaving Chelsea.

Reacting to his move to Burnley, Ugochukwu said it was a great feeling for him.

He added that when he joined Burnley, he instantly became aware of the club’s interest in signing him, making him keen to hear more about their project.

The former Blues midfielder disclosed he spoke to the manager and Maxime Esteve, whom he said were both passionate about the club and the direction it’s heading in.

“It feels like this is the perfect move for me at this stage of my career with the ambition the club is showing,” he added.

Ugochukwu left Chelsea after being considered surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.

His departure comes as Chelsea plan to offload more players, including England internationals Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell.

Ugochukwu was at Chelsea for two years, where he made only 15 appearances in all competitions during his first season before being sent out on loan to Southampton in the 2024-25 season.
