Arsenal Eye Striker Move If Top Target Deal Fails

Ollie Watkins is reportedly open to joining Arsenal this summer, with the striker said to be eager to complete a “dream” move to the Emirates Stadium if other transfer options fall through.

Arsenal remain focused on strengthening their attack in the current transfer window. Manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta are determined to bring in a clinical striker, as they believe current options Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz lack the consistent goal-scoring ability needed to secure a Premier League title push.

The Gunners have been in discussions with RB Leipzig over Benjamin Sesko, while also pursuing Sporting Lisbon forward Viktor Gyokeres. Although Gyokeres has already agreed personal terms with Arsenal, Sporting are standing firm on their asking price. The Portuguese club are demanding €70 million (£60.3m) as a fixed fee, along with €10 million (£8.6m) in potential add-ons.

With negotiations at a standstill, there are growing reports that Arsenal may walk away from the Gyokeres deal. In that scenario, Ollie Watkins has emerged as a serious alternative. According to reports, the Aston Villa striker is keen on the move and views Arsenal as his ideal destination.

Watkins, known for his work ethic and consistent goal-scoring, would likely command a significant fee, but his Premier League experience and proven record make him an appealing option for the Gunners.

As talks over Gyokeres continue to stall, Watkins could become Arsenal’s next major transfer focus in the coming weeks.
