Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is confident that Alexander Isak could be the key to the club’s success in the Champions League, with reports revealing that the Gunners are preparing a formal bid for the highly-rated striker.
Isak has established himself as one of the Premier League’s top forwards since joining Newcastle United for £63 million from Real Sociedad in 2022. The 25-year-old has scored 54 goals and provided nine assists in 95 appearances for the Magpies, bringing his career total to 136 goals in 310 matches, along with 28 assists.
According to TEAMtalk’s transfer correspondent Fraser Fletcher, Isak has long been Arteta’s top target. Arsenal are expected to make a move for the Sweden international in the summer transfer window, although Newcastle are planning to hold discussions with the striker regarding his future.
Arsenal’s pursuit of Isak comes as Arteta seeks to strengthen his attacking options in preparation for the club’s Champions League campaign. With Isak’s proven track record and versatile playstyle, the manager believes he could be the catalyst for Arsenal’s push for European glory. However, Newcastle will be determined to keep hold of their star forward, and negotiations are likely to be challenging.
