Chelsea Consider Recall of £8.5m Defender Amid Transfer Moves for Chukwuemeka
Chelsea may recall their £8.5m defender, who has made just three starts, in an effort to free up space for a more valuable player to go out on loan.
The January transfer window is heating up for the Blues, as they shift their focus to offloading players and optimizing their squad.
Since August, Chelsea’s management has had ample time to identify players for departure and determine what they aim to gain in return. With January already underway, the club appears to be moving swiftly in the market.
One player at the center of these discussions is Carney Chukwuemeka. After being made available for transfer during the summer with no success, the situation now seems more promising. Just today, reports have emerged of competing interests for the young midfielder.
According to The Athletic, Borussia Dortmund have expressed an interest in acquiring Chukwuemeka on loan, with an option to purchase. However, Chelsea seems reluctant to agree to such terms, reportedly preferring a permanent transfer.
Alternatively, the Daily Mail suggests that the only loan Chelsea would consider is to their sister club, Strasbourg. This move could allow Chukwuemeka to gain valuable playing time and potentially boost his market value ahead of a future sale.
