After Mourinho left: Pogba shares his best season at Man Utd

Former Man Utd midfielder Paul Pogba has recalled his time at Old Trafford.

The Frenchman in a recent statement claimed that he enjoyed the best season at Manchester United after manager Jose Mourinho left the club.

Pogba admitted he wanted to exit Old Trafford long before he finally left to join Italian Serie A side Juventus in 2022.

After initially leaving the Red Devils to join Juventus in 2012, Pogba returned to Old Trafford four years later.

However, Pogba’s second spell with Man Utd was hampered by injuries and speculation about a possible transfer to the Spanish La Liga side Real Madrid.

The Frenchman in an interview via the Daily Mail said that he wanted to leave after he ended the 2018-19 season with 16 goals from 47 matches in all competitions.

However, Man United during that period sacked Jose Mourinho and signed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as his replacement.

While Solskjaer was willing to let Pogba go, Man United’s executive vice-chairman at the time, Ed Woodward, would not sanction the transfer.

“I came back for pre-season because I wanted to be professional. I spoke to Ed to try to make a move but he blocked it,” Pogba said.
