Maresca bags special recognition in the EPL for September
Chelsea’s new manager Enzo Maresca is already receiving his flowers for the club’s impressive form this season.
Maresca, who was signed as a replacement for Mauricio Pochettino last summer has been named as the Premier League Manager of the Month for September.
Recall that the West London club began the month with a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge to Crystal Palace but bounced back to win three consecutive matches.
The victory included away wins at Bournemouth and West Ham, before a 4-2 victory over Brighton at Stamford Bridge.
The latter match saw Chelsea winger Cole Palmer score four first-half goals and the 22-year-old, earning him the EA Sports Premier League Player of the Month for September.
Maresca’s new award is proof of Chelsea’s strong start since his appointment in the summer.
Recall that the 44-year-old led Leicester City to promotion to the Premier League last season before he moved to Chelsea as Pochettino’s replacement.
As of now, the Blues are fourth on the Premier League log, four points behind league toppers Liverpool, as the club look to secure Champions League qualification in 2024/25.
Maresca’s recent win, makes him the second newly appointed manager to claim the Premier League’s Manager of the Month award this season, after Brighton’s Fabian Hurzeler took August’s accolade.
