Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, in a recent statement spoke about Carney Chukwuemeka’s future at Stamford Bridge.

Maresca admitted he told Chukwuemeka to exit Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window.

The 20-year-old winger joined the Blues in 2022, but has struggled for game time under Maresca this season as the Argentine considers him surplus to the requirements at Stamford Bridge.

So far, Chukwuemeka has played only in one game for the West London club this season which was against Barrow in the Carabao Cup.

Maresca, in a post-match statement after the 4-2 victory over Brighton on Saturday at Stamford Bridge, admitted he wanted the youngster to leave in the summer.

The Blues boss who stated that the winger is a very good player, however, stressed that for the number of players at the club, it was decided at the beginning of the season it is probably better to leave and go somewhere.

Maresca said it was better for Chukwuemeka to prove himself by going to a club where he can get 30 or 35 games than being at Chelsea where he would play less games.

Since the transfer didn’t happen, Maresca stated that the winger remains a Chelsea player as he hope he would get more minutes in future games.
