Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has commended the club’s summer signing and defender Riccardo Calafiori after the Gunners’ Premier League 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Sunday.

Arteta in a post-match statement said the Italy star was ‘great’ against Man City led by Guardiola during their faceoff at the Etihad Stadium.

Recall that Calafiori scored Arsenal’s first goal against the Citizens cancelling Erling Haaland’s early goal.

The match also saw the duo of Gabriel Magalhães and John Stones finding their names on the scoreboard for Arsenal and Man City, respectively.

Speaking at his post-match interview, Arteta said Calafiori was great to have the debut in this context chapeau.

The manager added that the defender has so much character and he is really impressed with that.

Recall that Calafiori was one of the North London club’s major signing in the recent summer transfer window.

They signed him from Bologna and he appears to have helped solidify their defence.
