Ten Hag responds to comments on dropping Rashford on the bench
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag recently made headlines after he slammed Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp for his comment about why Marcus Rashford was dropped against Crystal Palace.
Redknapp in a statement suggested that Rashford was dropped for the Red Devils trip to Selhurst Park for “something untoward” behind the scenes.
Rashford, who emerged as the Player of the Match after Man United’s 7-0 win over Barnsley in the Carabao Cup, was, however, named as a substitute for the Crystal Palace’s faceoff.
Ten Hag instead chose to start with Alejandro Garnacho on the left-hand side of attack.
Before kick-off, Redknapp claimed Rashford might have upset Ten Hag, which was why he was left on the bench.
Ten Hag in a post-match statement when asked about Redknapp’s comments said he heard about the speculation, tagging it as crazy.
According to the manager, it was just rotation as Man Utd have many games to cover and they have more than 11 starting players but the club has to give all the players, if they perform, chances.
Man Utd will return to action on Wednesday when they play Dutch side Twente in the UEFA Europa League and hopefully Rashford could get to start again.
