EPL: Why Arteta shouldn’t start Martinelli Vs Man City

Former Tottenham Hotspur star, Darren Bent has sent advice to Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta ahead of Arsenal’s weekend game against Man City in the Premier League.

Bent urged Arteta not to start Gabriel Martinelli over Raheem Sterling on the left flank against Manchester City.

According to Bent, Martinelli is too anxious and lacks confidence, as he stressed that Sterling should start ahead of the Brazilian on Sunday.

Man City and Arsenal will clash in the Premier League at the Etihad Stadium.

Bent while speaking with talkSPORT said Martinelli did himself no favours against Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League.

“I think that left flank where you go, ‘if Arteta picks Martinelli fair enough, if he picks Sterling you go fair enough’. I’m going Sterling,” he said.

Recall that Martinelli managed to score six goals last season for Arsenal. Coupled with his performance against Serie A side Atalanta, Bent urged Arteta not to use him.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are likely to be without their captain Martin Odegaard when they play Man City this weekend.

Odegaard sustained an ankle injury while on duty for his home country Norway.

Arsenal will hope to see to it that Man City drop a point when they meet on Sunday.
