Why €55M Winger Pedro Neto Would Be Perfect for Chelsea – But Unlikely to Join

Chelsea’s summer transfer window has been marked by a mix of strategic acquisitions, including useful squad players and promising young talents.

However, they have yet to secure the elite striker or right winger they are reportedly targeting. Currently, their focus appears to be on offloading a few first-team players before committing to premium signings.

One name that has emerged in the rumor mill is Pedro Neto of Wolves. The Portugal international is reportedly attracting interest from top clubs, including Spurs, Newcastle, and Liverpool.

According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea has now joined the race for the talented winger, who is valued at around £60 million by Wolves.

Neto, despite some injury setbacks, has made a significant impact at Wolves, scoring 14 goals and providing 24 assists in 135 appearances across all competitions.

His explosive style and goal-scoring ability make him an ideal fit for Chelsea’s attacking needs. At 24, he aligns well with Chelsea’s focus on young, dynamic players.

However, there’s a catch. Chelsea’s transfer strategy typically involves acquiring players whose market value is poised to rise.

Neto, already an established Premier League player valued at €55 million by TransferMarkt, may not fit this criterion. His market value is likely at its peak, unless he reaches another level of performance.

Given that Chelsea hesitated at the price and wage demands of long-term target Michael Olise, it’s challenging to envision them splurging on Neto under similar or higher financial conditions. Yet, if Chelsea manages to offload several unwanted players this summer, freeing up both budget and squad space, the scenario could change. The club’s sporting directors might still surprise us with a bold move.
