Murillo Addresses Chelsea Transfer Speculation Amid £70M Rumors

Murillo has responded to the transfer speculation following Chelsea’s approach to Nottingham Forest for the 6ft defender.

The Brazilian defender gained significant attention after an impressive debut season with Forest.

With Chelsea having already signed Tosin Adarabioyo, they are keen on adding another center-back, especially with Trevoh Chalobah’s potential departure and Thiago Silva already having left.

football.london reports that Murillo is a top target for Chelsea this summer. The club has approached Forest regarding a possible deal, but Forest’s £60 million-plus valuation is reportedly considered too high by Chelsea.

There has been talk of a potential cash-plus-players offer, possibly including Chalobah.

Murillo made 36 appearances for Forest last season, 32 of which were in the Premier League, showcasing a solid performance with no mistakes leading to goals and earning several player of the month awards.

Addressing the transfer rumors and the possibility of replacing Silva, whom he admires, Murillo told the podcast Benja Me Mucho: “We don’t know anything for sure, but if it happens, it’s a big responsibility [to replace Silva].

The transfer window just opened last month, so I’m returning to Nottingham Forest for pre-season. Discussions may happen about my future, but I’m relaxed.”

When asked about other Premier League clubs he would consider, Murillo added: “I’d choose Manchester City, but it would be more difficult to be a regular starter given their squad.

Arsenal is also an option as they are fighting for the Premier League title. I wouldn’t dismiss Liverpool either; it would be a good opportunity to showcase my football at a big club.”

Murillo has also been linked with Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Barcelona.

Atletico Madrid has reportedly held talks with his representatives, while Juventus has ruled themselves out due to restrictions on non-EU players.
