Chelsea’s first choice goalie under Maresca
Chelsea newly appointed manager Enzo Maresca has named Robert Sanchez as his first choice goalkeeper.
Maresca who was unvieled as the Blues new manager on Monday has begun his squad planning ahead of the preseason.
The report revealed the Italian has told the club’s hierarchy that Sanchez cannot leave the summer.
Popular transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano in a statement via his X account said Chelsea plan to continue with Sanchez as their goalkeeper next season.
Romano revealed that one of the reasons Chelsea are keeping Sanchez is because of Ben Roberts being nominated Head of Global Goalkeeping.
He added that Maresca on Tuesday also informed Chelsea that he’s happy to start working with Sánchez.
Recall that Sanchez started last season as first choice goalkeeper under former manager Mauricio Pochettino but lost his place to Djordje Petrovic after he got injured.
With Sanchez returning to the goalpost under a new manager, Chelsea may seal a permanent deal for Kepa Arrizabalaga to leave Stamford Bridge this summer transfer window.
With the goalkeeping area now solved, Chelsea are still in need of a goalscoring striker to support Nicolas Jackson in the next campaign.
