Former Man Utd star and Pundit Rio Ferdinand has reacted to the calls for Mauricio Pochettino’s sack at Chelsea over the Blues poor form this season.

Pochettino came under intense pressure after they suffered an embarrassing defeat against their London rivals Arsenal.

The defeat comes after the Blues also lost 1-0 to Manchester City in the FA Cup semifinals on Saturday.

As of now, Chelsea are at the ninth spot in the Premier League with six games remaining.

They also failed to win any major trophy despite having an edge against their rivals who played in European leagues.

Speaking after the Blues’ loss to Arsenal, Ferdinand stressed that much should not be expected from Pochettino side because his squad comprised of young players, some of whom are playing their first season in the Premier League.

Ferdinand who singled out the Blues defender and Brazil star Thiago Silva as the only veteran in Pochettino’s squad said the Blues need to buy experienced players in the coming summer window.

Speaking on the Blues squad, Ferdinand said:

“The main one, on the bench, was Thiago Silva but he is 38-years-old. They need to buy experience.”

Aside from Chelsea being a squad full of young players, their performance have been marred by injuries.

Meanwhile, the Blues will return to action in the Premier League this weekend when they play Burnley.
