Premier League to lose extra spot in UCL following Arsenal, Man City’s elimination

The English Premier League have lost an extra spot in the UEFA Champions League to the German Bundesliga ahead of next season’s tournament.

This comes after the last two Premier League clubs in the Champions League Arsenal and Manchester City lost to their opponents Bayern Munich and Real Madrid respectively on Wednesday night.

According to the reformatted edition of the Champions League which commenced next season, the two countries with the highest co-efficient will be handed an extra group-stage place in the tournament.

Each of the victory is worth two coefficient points, a draw gets one, while zero for a defeat.

Aside from there are also bonus points for getting to certain stages.

In this week’s matches, English clubs were ahead of their German counterparts, but only on countback with the two countries locked on the same coefficient points.

While German club Bayern Munich defeated Arsenal, Spanish side Real Madrid knocked out Man City.

Another German club Borussia Dortmund kicked out La Liga club Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, meaning Germany have moved ahead of England on points.

The only options left for the Premier League is to pray for a miracle to happen when West Ham and Liverpool play against Bayer Leverkusen and Atalanta, on Thursday in the Europa League.
