Why Chelsea shouldn’t sign Osimhen – Petit gives his reason
Former Chelsea star Emmanuel Petit has reacted to the Blues summer transfer plans which include their move to sign Napoli star Victor Osimhen.
It is no longer news that Osimhen is one of the players Chelsea plan to sign in the summer with the aim of boosting their attack squad.
The move to sign the 25-year-old wouldn’t come easy for Chelsea as Osimhen’s release clause has been fixed around €120m-€130m after he signed a new contract last December.
However, Petit believes his former club doesn’t need to sign a new striker as he urged the Blues to focus on building their current squad rather than pursuing reinforcements.
“I don’t think Chelsea need Gyokeres or Osimhen.
“With Chelsea, there are so many players who are not playing to their level and can do so much more,” Petit said in a statement Genting Casino.
Aside from the Blues, Osimhen has been linked to rivals Arsenal and French Ligue 1 side Paris Saint Germain, PSG, who consider Osimhen as a worthy replacement for Kylian Mbappe who is set to leave the club this summer transfer window.
There are speculations Chelsea may not be able to meet Osimhen’s release clause owing to FFP rules which could work against them.
