Former Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas in a recent statement has named Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard as the toughest opponent he ever played against while in the game.

Fabregas and Gerrard played against each other on many occasions in the Premier League, especially while the Spaniard was at Arsenal.

Fabregas appluded the former England captain for his extremely well-rounded playing style.

Recall that the former Spain international made it to the spotlight during his time at Arsenal before joining Barcelona in 2011 where he won the La Liga title.

Fabregas then return to the Premier League with Chelsea three years later and won two Premier League titles.

The former Arsenal star also won the World Cup and two European Championships during his national career.

He said further: “I always felt he had everything in his locker. He could dictate play; he could score goals, do assists, and make runs in behind. Offensively, he was very strong,” he told Sport Bible when asked to choose his toughest opponent.

“You always felt that when you were coming up against him, you had to be at the top of your game; otherwise, you would be in trouble because he was very consistent. He was always an eight, seven, eight, seven [out of 10].”
