The report of proposed Blue cards in the football world has been trending online.

A report via the UK Telegraph revealed Blue cards are set to be introduced in professional football as part of sin-bin trials.

If the Blue card comes into use, it will mark the first new colour of card widely used in 50 years.

As of now, there are only yellow and red cards used in football.

But the report claimed that on Friday, the International Football Association Board, IFAB, will announce the revolutionary move

How the Blue card works

According to the reports, the new card will see players removed from play for 10 minutes, if they commit a cynical foul or show dissent towards a match official.

Players would now be sent off if they received two blue cards in a match or a combination of a blue and a yellow.

The report also revealed the elite trials could begin this summer, although top-tier competitions will be excluded from initial testing.
