Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola in a post-match statement has suggested why his side were held to a 4-4 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The Citizens manager saw as goals from Thiago Silva, Raheem Sterling, Nicolas Jackson, Cole Palmer, Erling Haaland (2), Manuel Akanji, and Rodri ensured they and the Blues shared a point each at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking after the game, Guardiola suggested that Man City failed to beat Chelsea because the match was ‘tight.’

According to him, Chelsea led by Mauricio Pochettino are in good shape.

“I don’t remember a game where we came here to get the chances we had. A millions times much worse than today, when we won 0-1,” Guardiola said.

“Their shape is really good. It happens, give credit to both teams and Pochettino will give analysis about his team. It was tight. A fair result.”

He added: “The quality they are, they push you to another level to make decisions. Right now, I think it’s a fair result.”
