Klopp shares why Chelsea have an advantage over Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp in a recent statement claimed Chelsea have a ‘massive advantage’ over his side this season.

According to Klopp, unlike Liverpool who are playing in the Europa League this season, the Blues are not playing European football.

So far this season, the Reds, alongside Arsenal, are considered by many to be Manchester City’s main challenger to win the Premier League title this season.

Liverpool have started the 2023-2024 campaign strong winning five of their six games in the Premier League.

The only match they didn’t win was a 1-1 draw at Chelsea on the opening day of the season.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have endured a tough period since that meeting and have won just one of their opening six Premier League games this term.

Despite the Blues’ poor performances this season, Klopp feels that they, along with Tottenham, have a major advantage in the race for the top four this season because their players are well-rested.

“Chelsea and Tottenham have no European football,” Klopp said at his pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League tie with Tottenham on Saturday.

“Two heavyweights not in European football, they have the whole week to train when others travel. It is a massive advantage.

“Getting into the Champions League this year will be a massive, difficult task because they will be well rested.”
