Chelsea’s main problem revealed after defeat to Nottingham Forest

Former Arsenal star Paul Merson has reacted to Chelsea’s weekend defeat to Nottingham Forest in the English Premier League.

The Blues went to the game after their narrow win over AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao League.

Merson in a statement described the Blues’ defeat to Nottingham Forest as shocking as he went on to highlight a major problem for the West London squad.

Anthony Elanga scored the only goal as Forest won all three points at Stamford Bridge.

The latest defeat means that the Blues have won just one of their four games.

Merson watched the game for Sky Sports and said, “It happened again today, they never looked like scoring a goal.

“It’s disappointing. I think they’ll be alright away from home, when teams have a go, because of Nicolas Jackson and Raheem Sterling’s pace.

“This has been happening for a couple of years now, trying to break teams down.

“But for the next 30-50 minutes, it was slow, the fans were getting frustrated. Mauricio Pochettino’s job is to get this team up and really pressing.”
