Arteta reacts to two yellow cards issued to defender vs Crystal Palace
Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has reacted to the two yellow cards issued to his defender Takehiro Tomiyasu during their win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Monday.
The Spaniard who said Tomiyasu should not have been issued two strikes, led his side to a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Arsenal scored their lone goal from the penalty spot after Eddie Nketiah was brought down in the area by Sam Johnstone.
The Gunners skipper Martin Odegaard scored from the spot kick.
However, Tomiyasu was handed a second yellow card in the 67th minute for a tug of Andre Ayew’s shirt.
And speaking after the game, Arteta suggested the ‘new rules’ had been introduced on the fly.
“I’m a really open person, I understand everything,” he said.
“The new rules are one thing. The new rules that I don’t know where they are and they haven’t communicated, that’s something very different.
“But we will adapt. Today we had to win it in this context and we’ve done it.”
