Former Arsenal star Paul Merson has lashed out at Chelsea manager Graham Potter for playing unwell star, Mykhailo Mudryk during the Blues’ 0-0 draw with Fulham at the weekend.

The Ukraine star started the match but was pulled off after 45 minutes following his underwhelming performance.

However, in a post-match statement, the manager told the press that the player was suffering from a cold during the game.

In a response, Merson questioned the English manager’s decision to feature a player who was not feeling well before the game when there were several other players on the bench.

“The problem is if he’s not well, give the lad a chance. Don’t play him on his home debut if he’s not well,” Merson said on Sky Sports.

“He was behind the eight ball straight away. Not a good one for him. He did struggle.

“Don’t play him, they’ve got enough players in the squad to not play him. For me, he needs to hit the ground running. They all do.”
