Chelsea agree to sign Timo Werner for £54m

Chelsea have purportedly won the race for RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner.

The Germany international has been in staggering form for his Bundesliga club during the 2019-20 campaign, scoring multiple times and giving 12 assists in 40 appearances in all competitions.

Liverpool were believed to be the top choices for the 24-year-old, who is accepted to have a £54m release clause in his present contract at the Red Bull Field.

Be that as it may, as indicated by Bild, the striker has now agreed a five-year contract with Chelsea worth £9m per year.

The report asserts that Timo Werner thought in March that he needed to leave RB Leipzig this summer and after the enthusiasm from Liverpool cooled, Lampard’s side made their turn.

Manchester United have also been connected with the German, who has struck multiple times in 154 appearances for his present side since joining from Stuttgart in 2016.
