EPL: Everyone is injured – Chelsea coach says ahead of game vs Liverpool
Chelsea boss and Germany international Thomas Tuchel has cried out over the high rate of injured players in his squad.
This comes after the Blues were held to a 1-1 draw vs Brighton right at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
The game against Brighton saw the Blues suffer more injury setbacks as they also dropped two points after Danny Welbeck scored an equaliser which cancelled out Romelu Lukaku’s goal.
In a post-match statement, Tuchel said “everybody” is injured and claimed he has “no more wingbacks” fit, ahead of their Premier League clash with Liverpool this weekend.
Reece James limped off in the first half while Andreas Christensen was taken off at halftime with what could be a hamstring and a back problem, respectively.
Tuchel said: “No prognosis yet on James. It’s a hamstring injury. We will not look ahead to Liverpool now. We cannot. We have to try and find players to play. We have no more wingbacks. Everyone is injured.
“Players are coming back from Covid. They are playing. I will always protect my players. We need to digest this and then we will look ahead.”
