EPL: This player slammed for destroying Chelsea vs West Ham

Chelsea goalie and Senegal international Edouard Mendy seems to be at the receiving end of massive criticism after the Blues recent loss to West Ham in the EPL.

In a recent statement, former Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United player, Garth Crooks, has lashed out at Mendy over his display in Chelsea’s Premier League 3-2 defeat to West Ham United.

Mendy failed to prevent Arthur Massuaku’s bizarre winning goal for West Ham on Saturday as the Hammers defeated Chelsea at home thanks to goals from Manuel Lanzini, Jarrod Bowen and Masuaku.

While Thiago Silva and Mason Mount scored one goal each, it was not enough to save the Blues.

Crooks, in his reaction, stressed that Mendy was too proud, and his singular act destroyed Chelsea, who have now dropped from the top of the league table.

“Unfortunately, the Senegal international [Mendy] on this occasion was too proud to put his foot through the ball and into the crowd, where it should have gone and paid the price,” Crooks told BBC Sport.

“Bowen’s performance galvanised the Hammers. Mendy’s destroyed Chelsea.”
