UCL: Chelsea sink Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea on Wednesday night hosted Spanish side, Real Madrid in the Uefa Champions League second-leg.

The match was one of the most interesting as Chelsea had their first goal in the first half thanks to an effort from Timo Werner.

This comes as Werner nodded into the empty net from one yard out during the first half.

The second half also came with a goal from Mason Mount, who turned home Christian Pulisic’s cross late on.

Chelsea sank Real Madrid 3-1 in the semi-finals on aggregate.

Recall that Chelsea had in the first leg held down the Spanish giant to a 1-1 draw in Spain last week while the game at Stamford Bridge ended with a 2-0 scoreline.

Chelsea are now in the final of the UCL and would be facing a fellow English team, Man City in Istanbul later this month.

With this latest development, this will be the second time the Champions League will see an all-English final in three years, following Liverpool’s win over Tottenham in 2019.

Chelsea making it to the final is a plus for Thomas Tuchel who only arrived at Stamford Bridge in January this year following a poor spell led by Frank Lampard.

Chelsea are now comfortably seated in the top four on the EPL table.
