Real Madrid playmaker arrives in London for Arsenal medicals

With few days left before the January transfer window ends, Arsenal may be welcoming the arrival of a new midfielder in the next few hours.

According to AFCBell reports, Real Madrid playmaker, Martin Odegaard, flew into the Luton Airport on Sunday as he is set to complete his loan transfer to Arsenal.

The reports revealed that the Los Blancos permitted Odegaard to leave for Arsenal to complete his medicals after the club had signed all the necessary papers.

The 22-year-old has made only 7 appearances for Real Madrid this season but would get more playing chances when he joins Mikel Arteta’s side, who need a creative midfielder to turn their season around.

According to the report, he would remain at Emirate stadium until the end of the season as there was no clause in the deal to sign him permanently at the end of the season.

However, the Gunners will pay the full amount of Odegaard’s wages during his time at the Emirates.

Odegaard currently earns £38,000-per-week, a wage which will not be difficult for Arsenal to settle. The Gunners will, however, pay a loan fee of just £2m to the Spanish side.

This is a good deal for Arsenal as it means that they have very little to lose if Odegaard fails to live up to expectations.
