Why Ronaldo may not start vs. Newcastle United

The EPL will return this weekend following a short international break. The Red Devils will on Saturday play against Newcastle United but may start without Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo.

While many football fans, especially Man Utd, would be expecting the Portuguese star to star, the Sun UK in a recent reports, have revealed the Ronaldo may start from the bench vs Newcastle.

This is because the top-rated striker who has been on international duty didn’t have much time to participate in training with the rest of the Red Devils squad.

Although Ronaldo has returned to Manchester United after Portugal’s match vs the Republic of Ireland, he would however  be on a five day isolation at home in Cheshire due to COVID protocols.

Ronaldo, 36, was able to train for one day with his new teammates ahead of Saturday and this is unlikely to be enough for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to throw him into the starting XI against Newcastle.

He is, however, expected to make his start in the UCL match vs Young Boys on Tuesday in Switzerland.
