World Cup: Messi react to win vs the Netherlands, speaks on next game vs Croatia
Argentine football star Lionel Messi has expressed his excitement following his side’s win vs the Netherlands in the quarter-final.
Messi, in a report via the Athletic, said Argentina had to suffer in the match but he was happy they got through.
The PSG forward spoke after the match, saying: “A lot of joy, a lot of happiness. We didn’t have to go to extra time or penalties, we had to suffer. But we got through and it is something impressive.
“Argentina is among the four best teams in the world because we show that we know how to play every match with the same desire and intensity.
“This team understands the moments of the match. When we have to play, we play. When we have to defend, we do it too.”
Speaking ahead of their semi-final game Messi hailed Croatia, who he said play on an equal pattern with Brazil.
He said: “Croatia showed that they are a great team. At times they played on equal terms with Brazil. It is a team that has been working with the same coach for a long time and they know each other very well.
“We are enjoying a lot with the people, going step by step. We are very happy.”
