Former Chelsea manager undergoes surgery
Former Chelsea and now Tottenham Hotspur manager, Antonio Conte, has been granted a leave of absence by the club.
This comes as the Italian is set to undergo emergency surgery to remove his gallbladder.
Tottenham made this public in a brief statement via its website.
It was reported that the former Chelsea coach fell ill earlier this week and complained of severe abdominal pain.
He has, however, been diagnosed with cholecystitis, a condition that causes swelling and redness of the gallbladder.
“Antonio Conte recently became unwell with severe abdominal pain,” Tottenham’s statement read.
“Following a diagnosis of cholecystitis, he will be undergoing surgery to remove his gallbladder today and will return following a period of recuperation. Everyone at the Club wishes him well.”
